Mrs. Odile Meister

program into its second year. Learning a new language develops the brain in unique ways, and opens up a

I aim to make my classes engaging and relevant to today’s world. In addition to the Spanish language, we
learn about the culture and current events in Mexico, Central America, South America, and Spain. Students will
practice their new language skills by communicating online with students in Spanish speaking countries who
are learning English. Last year we connected with a teacher and her students in Argentina. In addition, my goal
is that we establish a school trip to Spain every two years.
I completed my teaching credential and Masters of Education in 1993 in science education and taught science
for three years in California. While raising my kids, I became involved with music education and became a
trained violin teacher in the Suzuki Method. In 2014, my family and I moved to Wrangell, my husband’s
hometown. I continue to teach the violin privately to children and as well as teaching two classes of Spanish at
WHS. This summer I was fortunate to spend 5 weeks in Mexico taking advanced Spanish classes. I look
forward to sharing my improved skills with the students this year!
