Today is the day that consideration would be shared with the community about the extension of the class day at Evergreen Elementary School. Currently, they have 2 daily schedules; one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
The Evergreen Elementary staff has met about, worked on, and planned all month the consideration of the extension of the EES student contact hours. The EES staff believes they can accomplish managing an extended hours schedule for all K-5 students to include longer classroom hours Monday - Thursday and add classes for Fridays mornings.
Mrs. Miller-Yancey, the building administrator, is working on resolving a few more major details before a new plan can be implemented.
If everything gets worked out, then the new schedule and start date may be rolled out as soon as mid October. Information will be distributed via e-mail to the families of the EES students, posted to Facebook, and on the district website.
The entire EES staff is excited and looking forward to possibly having extended in-person contact time with students. Big kudos are extended to everyone for following the protocols that are helping our school stay healthy and successful."
